TOURIST VISA REQUIREMENT FOR Sri Lanka
Passport
When you apply for a sri lanka e visa online, you must be in possession of a passport with at least 6 months’ validity. This date is calculated as 6 months from the intended arrival date into Sri Lanka.
Completed ETA Form
This form requires personal and passport information. This includes contact details, full name, passport number, issue, and expiry date, as well as the country of birth and citizenship.
These documents are enough to obtain an ETA. However, upon arrival, the below documents must be shown to guarantee entry into Sri Lanka:
Printed Copy of ETA
Regarding your Sri Lanka E-visa online, a printed copy of the approved ETA must be shown at the Immigration checkpoint.
Proof of Sufficient Funding
You must be able to guarantee that you are financially independent. This may be in the form of bank account statements, or any other acceptable form of proof.
Flight Tickets
Flight tickets, especially return tickets, must be displayed upon asking. This could be a return ticket to your resident country or an onward ticket to a third country.

This depends. If your flight has a stopover in Sri Lanka, and you do not plan to exit the transit area of the airport, a transit ETA is not required. However, if you are transiting on your way to a third country by a different mode of transport (eg. arrive by flight and depart by boat) or through a different airport (eg. changing airports whilst still in Sri Lanka), you would need an ETA.
Yes, you can apply for an extension of a visa whilst in Sri Lanka itself. This will be valid for 90 days and can be extended a second time for 90 more.
You can apply for an ETA if you are planning on leaving the airport during your time in transit.
No, you do not - however, you will need to show both of these to the Immigration Officer upon arrival into Sri Lanka.
