About Egypt

Egypt lies on the north-eastern tip of Africa, and is the link between Africa and the Middle East. It is famous for its history and historical Egyptian civilization - the Nile River Valley, Pyramids of Giza and Pharaoh’s tombs all lie here. If you are looking for things to do, make sure to travel to the cities of Cairo (its capital), Luxor (former Pharaoh’s capital) and Aswan.

Introduction

Egypt is one of the most spectacular and historically significant countries on the planet! The country is considered the cradle of civilisation due to its long history. It is home to 8 UNESCO World Heritage sites and is also home to one of the 7 Wonders of the World. There is a lot to do and experience in Egypts from learning to make papyrus to exploring Heracleion, the Lost city under the sea. The country is a melting pot for many diverse cultures of both native and invading ethnicities which enhances its culture and traditions. You can ride camels, sail down the Nile or even trek till the summit of Mount Sinai!

At the time of writing this section (Dec 2020) tourists must take two COVID 19 PCR tests; one prior to departure from their home country with a validity of 96 hours from the date of the test, and a second test upon arrival in Dubai. The certificate must be for a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Other test certificates including antibody tests and home testing kits are not accepted in Dubai. Travellers must bring an official, printed certificate in English or Arabic to check in – SMS and digital certificates are not accepted.

What Egypt Offers

Culture tourism is the most popular form of tourism in Egypt. Tourists and history buffs from all over the world flock to Egypt every year to witness the magnificent pyramids and structures that adorn the Egyptian deserts. The most popular tourist attractions are the pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, temples, the Vallery of Kings, and the Nile. Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria and Hurghada are some of the popularly visited cities. Hurghada has some of the most stunning beaches where you can relax under the Egyptian sun. You can visit a world-famous resort called Sharm-el-Sheikh that is popular for its coral reefs. There are many open-air markets and shops where you can buy amazing souvenirs among other items. You must visit the Khan-el-Khalili bazaar when you visit Cairo. There are many luxurious resorts along the Red sea that you can visit where you can also scuba dive. You must also try authentic Egyptian food and desserts!

Post COVID-19 Travel

Egypt is now permitting Indian travellers to travel to Egypt if they adhere to all the necessary guidelines to ensure the safety of both visitors and citizens. Fully vaccinated Indian travellers can now travel to Egypt as long they have a valid Egypt visa or E visa Egypt and follow the necessary guidelines. You are not required to quarantine upon arrival in Egypt unless you test positive for COVID-19. If you test positive while in Egypt, you must quarantine for 14-days or until necessary. To travel to Egypt, Indian travellers should ensure that they are fully vaccinated, have a valid Egypt visa or E Visa Egypt and that they closely follow all the guidelines directed by the officials.

Weather, Transport and Culture

The best time to visit Egypt is from October to April when the temperatures are lower and the weather is more pleasant. The peak tourist season is in December and January during which the accommodations and tour prices are higher than normal. During the month of Ramadan, local life is slow and people stay indoors until they break their fasts

Egypt has various forms of public and local transport that you can avail. You can conveniently travel using metros, railways, buses, taxis, tuktuks and airplanes. You can also take the Nile taxi that takes travellers on a journey down the Nile. You can also hire cars for which you need an international driving license.

Egypt’s culture is a rich blend of many cultures, traditions, and ethnicities. The culture and lifestyle are heavily influenced by its ancient and historic civilizations and Pharaohs. Most Egyptians speak Egyptian Arabic. Egyptian people are known for their hospitality and are very welcoming of tourists too!

Indian travellers must have a valid Egypt visa to travel to Egypt. You can easily apply Egypt visa online. Indian travellers must first decide the kind of Egypt visa (Egypt tourist visa, Egypt work visa, tourist visa Egypt, E visa Egypt) they need to cover the nature and the duration of their trip. Suppose you are a tourist, you will require an Egypt tourist visa to cover your trip to Egypt. You can then apply for a tourist visa Egypt by filling the Egypt tourist visa application, uploading the required and paying the Egypt tourist visa fees. Once you submit your application, it will take a few days for your application to be processed after which you should receive your Egypt tourist visa.
