TOURIST VISA REQUIREMENT FOR Maldives

Passport

Passport details are mandatory when you apply for a Maldives E-visa. A passport or a travel document with Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) is required, with at least 6 months validity beyond the date of departure from the country. It should also contain 2 blank pages.

A valid credit/debit card is required for making visa payments, as well as to display proof of financial independence.

Hotel Booking/Accommodation Proof

Recent digital color photographs with a white background are required when you apply for an Ethiopian visa online - Preferably the photo should not be cropped from the passport; black and white photographs will not be entertained.

Foreign Exchange

Sufficient funds to last for the intended period of stay in the Maldives is necessary, this is usually calculated as USD100 plus USD 50 per day.

Flight Tickets

Confirmed onward/return tickets to the home country or country of residency must be shown to the Immigration Officer upon arrival. This is not applicable to valid resident permit holders.

Completed Disembarkation Card

The Disembarkation Card is available both on the flight and as soon as you land. You must fill it up completely and truthfully. It contains particulars such as name (in full; as it appears on passport), nationality, country and date of birth, passport details, place of residence, mode of arrival, the purpose of visit, etc.

Yellow-Fever Vaccination card

When you apply for a Maldives E-visa, those from countries that have a high risk of yellow fever must produce their yellow fever vaccination card on arrival.

    The period of stay granted is shown on the endorsement in the passport. It is recommended to check your passport for the arrival endorsement, paying attention to the number of days granted for a stay in the Maldives. In case of Maldives Tourist Visa for Indians, once Immigration has been cleared, and the passenger is now dubbed a tourist, he/she is not allowed to engage in any form of business or paid employment while in the Maldives. The duration of stay is usually 30 days unless agreed by any bilateral means or treaty. Decisions on the period of stay are at the discretion of the Maldives Immigration to grant any number of days less than or equal to 30.

    Categories like social visitors, friends, family visitors or media and business visitors come under this umbrella and said persons are highly advised, if applicable, to declare sponsorship prior to their arrivals. If you fall under any of these categories, you are eligible for a tourist visa, however, as stated previously, declaring sponsorship is recommended.

    No, it is advised against boarding the flight to travel to the Maldives before the visa is approved, as the entry to the Maldives will not be granted before the visa approval.

    After the Business Visa is approved – for which you be informed via email - the original form set of the application should be submitted to the Immigration Office at Velana International Airport and pay an amount of MVR750 (the visa fee), at least 1 hour before the arrival of the foreigner. Passengers scheduled to arrive from Gan International Airport can pay this amount to the Immigration Office at Gan International Airport itself.
